10 Tips for Sensible Systems Administration
IBM Developerworks has a new article called “10 tips of sensible systems administration” that takes Benjamin Franklin quotes and shows how to apply them to the practice of systems administration. I think my favorite quote from the article was
“Beware small expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.”
That rings true with my experiences administering servers and desktops. Just one open port with one known vulnerability (or one user clicking something they shouldn’t) can bring the most secure network to its knees.
The article is an insightful and entertaining read, I highly recommend everyone check it out.
