Weekly Distribution Release Roundup for May 11 – 17
Pretty short release list this week, everyone must’ve been out enjoying the nice weather
May 11
- Sabily 9.04 Sabily was formerly known as “Ubuntu Muslim Edition” and they have just announced their 9.04 release that is based on the Ubuntu 9.04 release. This release has the Hijri Islamic Calendar tray applet, an Othman Quran browser, full Arabic language support, and many other features.
May 12
- Zenwalk Live 6.0 Zenwalk announced the release of their newest live version that corresponds with their 6.0 release. It’s pretty much a clone of their 6.0 release so not much else to report about it.
- SystemRescueCd 1.2.0 The SystemRescueCD team brings us a major version release of the oft-updated distro. This version has kernel 2.6.29, X.org 1.5.3, GParted 0.4.5, and a new version of fsarchiver.
May 13
- Ekaaty Linux 3 Ekaaty Linux is a Fedora-based Brazilian distribution. This release is their most polished release yet and features KDE 3.5.10, NetworkManager 0.7, BrOffice 3.0.1, kernel 2.6.27, and many other updates.
May 15
- Elive 1.9.27-compiz This Elive release is the same as the previously released 1.9.27 with the addition of compiz.
- GoblinX G:Standard 3.0.beta01 This beta of the upcoming G:Standard 3.0 release contains KDE 4.2.2, the removal of non-KDE and non-Qt applications, the removal of all other window managers except KDE, and the addition of some other Qt- and KDE-based applications.
- ForeSight Linux 2.1.1 This minor update to the ForeSight 2.1.0 release features GNOME 2.26.1, kernel 2.6.29, revamped notification area, and a ton of Xorg improvments.
