Weekly Distribution Release Roundup for June 22 – 28

No major distro releases this week, but we do have a few new (to us) distros…

June 22

  • GoblinX 3.0 g:mini The GoblinX team released the g:mini version for their 3.0 release. This version contains only XFCE  as the window manager and has a similar feature set to the standard version.

June 23

  • SME Server 8.0 Beta4 SME Server is a CentOS-based distribution for servers. The new beta is based on CentOS 5.3 and contains all the updated packages as well as numerous SME specific bugfixes.
  • Absolute Linux 13.0 RC1 Absolute Linux is a desktop-focused Slackwar-based distro. Highlights of this release candidate include big updates to Midori and Inkscape, more cohesive look and simpler navigation, and the addition of a control panel.

June 24

  • Linux Mint 7 x86_64 This Linux Mint release is identical to the standard Linux Mint 7 with the exception of being compiled for 64-bit processors.
  • Rocks Cluster Distribution 5.2 Rocks Cluster Distribution is a CentOS-based distro  that is designed to be run on clusters. This release is now based on CentOS 5.3 and includes support  for Solaris client nodes, ability to assign  global, appliance type, OS, and host attributes to each client, and many other bugfixes.

June 25

  • linuX-gamers Live 0.9.5 linuX-games Live is an Arch-based live cd that contains many popular 3d games.
  • Calculate Linux 9.7 Directory Server Calculate Directory Server is a Gentoo-based LDAP directory server. Highlights of this release include support for Italian and Polish languages, support for Samba group setting in the directory, and support for proxy service with user authorization in LDAP.

June 27

  • Toorox 06.2009 Toorox is a Gentoo-based live DVD containing the latest version of KDE4. This release include KDE 4.2.4 and a  recent CVS snapshot of lancelot_part.

June 28

  • Tiny Core Linux 2.1 Tiny Core Linux 2.1 contains updated modutils for better space saving, numerous app updates, and much more.
